SilverHares Celebrate 2026!

Over 60 Silver Hares ski 26 km to welcome 2026

What a way to ring in the New Year! Sixty-ish Silver Hares headed out for a 26 km ski under nearly perfect conditions—mild temperatures, no wind, mostly blue skies, and grooming so good it deserved its own round of applause. Truly the ideal way to welcome 2026: doing what we love, outside, on skis, and surrounded by friends both new and old.

What began years ago as a small group of friends has blossomed into a highly anticipated annual tradition filled with laughter, camaraderie, and just enough effort to make the cookies at the end feel well earned.

The age range of our skiers? An impressive 25 to 86 years young—which brings us to a very special tip of the toque  to Norm Crerar, who skied the full 26 km at age 86. Norm, it was an honor to ski alongside you. You are living proof that age is just a number… and apparently a very flexible one.

And finally, a huge thank-you to Euna, the mastermind behind this brilliant idea—from founding the concept, sharing it with the Hares, leading her group, and of course, delivering the legendary cookie medals. Euna, you are clearly onto something. This event has become a beloved Silver Hares tradition, and we are all better (and happier… and slightly sugared) for it.

Here’s to strong skis, great friends, and starting the year off right.
