January 31, 2026
Mother Nature greeted our merry band of Hares with mild temps, 0-+1 , no wind, clear visibility and overcast skies. The trail was well groomed with corduroy on the Skate pad all along our routes and well cut Classic tracks.
There were a good 40 skiers at our pre ski briefing with an unknown number already headed out earlier. Karen Adie Henderson along with Nancy Crerrar had departed before our 10am start and also skiing for a great cause—raising both awareness and funds for cancer research. Michel Auclair, Mike van Oorschot, Paul Guy and a visiting friend had already begun what turned into a 44K ski, they took on the S2S long course and a little more, kudos to them.
At our after ski gathering 30 hares joined in the socializing and good food. You know we ski for about 2 hours each Saturday and seem to spend more than that socializing at our lunches.
Time is flying by, I just realized we are just about halfway through our 3rd season spending time in each other’s company.
We have had 8 regular ski’s, this even though we missed a couple early sessions due to later than normal arrival of our snow. We have had one special ski the 26K for 2026 on Jan. 1st, a dance lesson class and an ice skating session. Pretty cool seeing people get to know one another as new friends and ski buddies. Lots people doing stuff together outside the Hares not even ski related that might maybe not have happened without meeting in our Silver Hares.
Wine tasting Dinner
The theme for the wine night is International wines. We’ll have wines from France, Spain, New Zealand and Australia.
Michel will give away 2 bottles of wine courtesy of Kat and the Black Pine. Awarding the wine will be based on a quiz Michel will give near the end of the evening so pay attention to his beginning of the evening wine presentation.
